Diego Sanchez was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This 22-year old Diego Sanchez began karate lessons at nine years old. Years of martial arts training aided Diego Sanchez's athletic pursuits at Del Norde High School as a wrestler. This also aided Diego Sanchez on the high school gridiron as a linebacker. In his senior year in 2000, Diego Sanchez won the state championship in the 152 lb weight class. Diego Sanchez etched his name amongst the best ever grapplers in school history.
