Denise Black (born 1958 in Emsworth, Havant, Hampshire) is an English actress, best known for playing Denise Osbourne in the ITV1 soap Coronation Street and Hazel in Queer As Folk in 1999/2000.
Black appeared in Coronation Street from 1992 to 1996 and returned on May 4, 2007 after an absence of 11 years. She has also appeared on The Bill, Casualty, New Tricks Doc Martin and Bad Girls.
While the role of Hazel Tyler cast her as the mother of Vince Tyler, there was in fact only 12 years difference between Denise and Craig Kelly, who played her on-screen son. For the role, Denise was playing a character approximately 4 years older than her own age, as the story-line in the second series indicated that Hazel became pregnant with Vince at the age of 15.
She also performed for a period with the touring show Grumpy Old Women Live.
Denise was born with a condition that caused her fingers to deform and cross over each other.
