 Dave Foley Detailed Biography -
This article is about the actor. For other people with the same name, see David Foley (disambiguation).

Dave Foley (born January 4, 1963, in Etobicoke, Ontario) is a Canadian actor, best known for his work in The Kids in the Hall, NewsRadio, and Celebrity Poker Showdown. He also frequently appears on The Late Late Show on CBS.

After dropping out of high school, Foley pursued standup comedy for about a year in Toronto then began taking improv classes, where he met Kevin McDonald, who got Foley a job with him as an usher at a local art house movie theatre. Together, they formed the original The Kids in the Hall.

In October 1989, The Kids in the Hall debuted on TV, with a cast of Foley, McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson. Some of Foley's famous characters include Hecubus, one of the Sizzler sisters, the A. T. & Love boss, Bruno Puntz Jones, Mr. Heavyfoot, Jocelyn, and Lex. The show ended in April 1994 and Dave moved on with his career. He did appear in The Kids in the Hall film Brain Candy, but is the only member of the group who is not credited as a writer.

Paul Simms, creator of NewsRadio, happened to be a huge fan of Dave. The role of Dave Nelson was created specifically for him.

Much of his character on the show was based on Dave's own personality, including his coffee addiction (reportedly Dave has several pots a day) and his love of the sitcom Green Acres.

He was recently reunited with NewsRadio writer Joe Furey, when he recorded the special featurette Working with Joe Furey, an add-on to Furey's comedy Love and Support.

Dave has also had several roles in movies. He co-wrote and starred in the comedy The Wrong Guy, where he played Nelson Hibbert, an office worker that when finding his boss murdered, mistakenly believes that he will be blamed for the crime and runs off as a fugitive. He did the voice of Flik in A Bug's Life, a role he reprised for brief cameos in Toy Story 2 and Cars, along with the voices for the Baldwin Brothers in South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. Foley's other movies include Monkeybone, Blast from the Past, and his most recent Sky High. He also played astronaut Alan Bean in the seventh episode of the television mini-series From the Earth to the Moon. He also played one of the office workers in My Boss's Daughter. In 1987 he danced with Anne Shirley in the TV Mini-Series Anne of Avonlea. In 2001 he played 'N Sync's Lance Bass's boss in the film On The Line. In 2007 he will appear in Uwe Boll's film adaptation of the controversial PC game Postal. Foley will also be in upcoming movies including Out of Omaha (along with NewsRadio star Vicki Lewis), LA Blues and The Strip.

Foley has been a guest on many television series. These include Becker, Dinner for Five, Father of the Pride, Grounded for Life, Hot Properties, I'm with Her, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Just Shoot Me!, Las Vegas, Lilo & Stitch: The Series, Will & Grace, Lovespring International, MADtv, Mr. Show, Odd Job Jack, Saturday Night Live, Scrubs, Tom Goes to the Mayor, L.A. Blues, Joey, Testing Bob, Comedy Central Presents, I Love the '70s, The King of Queens, Sketch Pad, What's Up Peter Fuddy?, The Prodigious Hickey, Committed, South Park, The Tick, What's New, Scooby-Doo? and The New Adventures of Old Christine & The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

In 2004, Foley became host of Celebrity Poker Showdown on Bravo. In 2007, Foley became the judge for the US version of Thank God You're Here.

Recently, Foley portrayed a middle-management employee (who happens to be a vampire) in the undead office comedy Netherbeast Incorporated (2007).

He married his first wife, Tabitha Southey, on December 31, 1991, in Canada. They met at a bar when he was 20 and she was 17. According to Foley, the relationship began right after being introduced when they argued over whether the lead vocalist of the group the Psychedelic Furs was a good singer. They divorced in 1997 after six years of marriage. Together they had two sons, Ned Foley (born in 1991) and Basil Foley (born in 1995).

He remarried on August 1, 2002, wedding Crissy Guerrero. They have a daughter, Alina Foley (born April 16, 2003).
