Darren Jack Dalton (born February 6, 1965 is an American actor, known mainly for his friendship with actor C. Thomas Howell.
Dalton was born on February 6, 1965, in Powell, Wyoming. He has one older brother. As a teenager, he, his brother, and their friends made up a rock band called "Regression". The band eventually ended when Dalton decided to pursue a career in acting. He attended Del Norte High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico and graduated in 1983.
Dalton's career began in 1982, when cast as Randy Adderson in Francis Ford Coppola's teen flick The Outsiders. Although the role was not a starring role, Dalton met C. Thomas Howell on set and the two quickly became friends. When Dalton finished The Outsiders, he appeared in the sex comedy Joy of Sex.
After The Outsiders Dalton and Howell reunited with Howell's on-screen brother Patrick Swayze in Red Dawn, a story of a group of teenagers fighting Soviet Union troops who've invaded the United States. Dalton portrayed Daryl Bates, the son of the mayor, who was forced to swallow a signal emitter and is eventually shot by Howell.
After Red Dawn, Dalton's first made-for-television movie was The Brotherhood of Justice as a rebellious teenager, followed by Daddy. Shortly after, he returned to theatrical releases, such as the 1988 drama Dancing in the Forest, followed by Sleeping Dogs, another film with Howell, in the role of Dexter.
Since Sleeping Dogs, Dalton did not appear in any other TV shows or movies until 2007's The Stolen Moments of September. After the movie, he fully returned to acting, in Howell's direct-to-DVD War of the Worlds 2, a sequel to his movie H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds. He has just finished the 2008 flick Children of the Hunt.
While on a break from acting, Dalton co-wrote with Howell the movie Hourglass directed by and starring Howell. Before that, he wrote To Protect and Serve, the screenplay written by Freeman King.
In his single days, Dalton lived with C. Thomas Howell and his mother in Calabassas, California. The two currently remain good friends.
At an unknown date, Dalton married actress Kristen Hocking Dalton, who recently appeared in The Departed as Jack Nicholson's sweetheart.
