Craig Kilborn Detailed Biography -
|
Craig Kilborn (born August 24, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri) is a comedian and former talk show host. He moved to Hastings, MN when he was 4.
Also sometimes known as Craiggers, Kilby or simply Kilborn.
Kilborn, who stands at least 6'4", played college basketball for Montana State University. He was the play-by-play commentator for the Savannah, Georgia Spirits of the Continental Basketball Association, starting in 1986, a job which lasted for two seasons until the team left for Tulsa, Oklahoma. From 1993 to 1996, he was a host of ESPN's SportsCenter.
From 1996 to 1998, Kilborn was the host of The Daily Show on Comedy Central where he courted some controversy and was forced to apologize for something offensive he had said on-air. When Tom Snyder retired from the Late Late Show, David Letterman's production company (World Wide Pants) wanted to have Kilborn to replace him. Kilborn's last Daily Show episode was on December 17, 1998, and featured Richard Lewis as the final guest.
The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn aired nightly on CBS immediately following The Late Show with David Letterman. He left the show in August of 2004 to dabble in movies (although it was also reported that CBS did not meet his demands regarding remuneration). Craig Ferguson replaced Kilborn in early 2005.
Kilborn made his motion picture acting debut with a small role in Old School (2003). He has three movies coming out in 2006: The Shaggy Dog, The Benchwarmers, and an untitled project where he plays a school counselor.
Kilborn, currently single, has a son, Jonathan, who was born in 1987.
On August 8, 2004, Kilborn made a one-night return to SportsCenter Old School as part of ESPN's 25th anniversary celebration ESPN25. That night, he co-hosted with Dan Patrick.
