Hanks was born in Sacramento, California, the son of Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks and his ex-wife, actress Samantha Lewes. He has two half-brothers, Chester (born 1990) and Truman (born 1995) from his father's second marriage to actress Rita Wilson. Hanks attended Loyola Marymount University and Chapman University.
Hanks' best known film role may be in the successful teen movie Orange County (2002), with Jack Black. He has also appeared in the Science Fiction television series Roswell and the HBO series Band of Brothers.
