With more than 20 years of broadcasting experience, Myers has covered virtually every major sports event including the Super Bowl, the World Series, the Daytona 500, and the Olympic Games and has interviewed personalities such as Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Tom Brady, Kobe Bryant, Wilt Chamberlain, and Derek Jeter.
He has also hosted shows and events on the Discovery Channel, Tennis Channel, and the Military Channel. He has appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live numerous times.
Myers also serves as the play-by-play commentator for Tampa Bay Buccaneers preseason games that air locally on WFLA-TV.
Myers is known for his deep voice and smooth delivery. Myers is also known for such catch phrases as..."I kid because I care"..."You...you're not good"..."Crazy go nuts"... Chris Myers was the first to coin the phrase "High drama in Hi Def" when calling Tampa Bay Preseason Football for WFLA TV.
Prior to joining FSN, Myers spent ten years at ESPN hosting SportsCenter, Baseball Tonight, and other various shows including the interview program Up Close, where Myers was honored as one of TV's best interviewers. He is also credited with establishing the concept of "Did You Know" While working for ESPN's SportsCenter. As host of Up Close, Myers was the first to conduct a live interview with O.J. Simpson after both his criminal trial and civil lawsuit. Chris Myers won a national Emmy award for his work while at ESPN. Myers also picked up Emmys for NASCAR on Fox and for his coverage of the BCS Fiesta Bowl.
In 1998, Myers joined Fox Sports Net where he was one of the original anchors of The National Sports Report and the weekly sports magazine program Goin' Deep. In 2005, he debuted a new show on FSN, The Chris Myers Interview.
In 2000, Myers joined Fox Sports Radio where he currently co-hosts The Drive. The fastest growing afternoon talk show. He consistently draws the biggest names in sports and can be heard on XM-142. Myers is never afraid to ask the tough question which is why he has gained the nickname as "the Velvet Hammer."
Myers is also currently the studio host for NASCAR coverage on FOX (also on FX from 2001 to 2007). He is also a reporter for Fox Sports' coverage of the NFL and Major League Baseball, and was mentioned as a candidate as host of FOX NFL Sunday when that job became open. In 2007, Myers was a reporter for two games in the Bowl Championship Series, one of which was the championship game.
After the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, Myers interviewed Boise State running back Ian Johnson, who had just scored the winning two-point-conversion in overtime. During the interview, Myers let us all in on the surprise that Johnson was planning to propose to his girlfriend, cheerleader Chrissy Popadics. As Popadics entered the screen, Myers enlightened the audience, "I know you are going to propose to your girlfriend, congratulations". Johnson, who hadn't yet popped the question, got down on one knee and proposed.
During NASCAR telecasts Myers hosts the pre-race show from the "Hollywood Hotel", a mobile pit studio that travels to every NASCAR event covered by FOX Sports. Myers also reports from the "Hollywood Hotel" during the race with Jeff Hammond alongside to provide analysis.
Myers has won over Nascar fans and has helped deliver the sport in a mainstream professional manner. His sense of humor has helped the prerace show receive two Emmy nominations. Myers on field interviews for FOX consistently give viewers a true feel for what the athlete and coach are thinking.
One of his most famous segments during the pre-race show was "Ten Laps With", in which Myers would ask one driver several revealing questions.
Chris Myers has a brief cameo in the 1997 disaster epic, Volcano. Chris Myers has also appeared in Rat Race and Juwanna Mann.
Myers resides in Southern California. He was once voted one of New Orleans most eligible bachelors.
Myers was worked with Charity functions for hospitals such as Ceder-Sinai, American Cancer Society and the Murray Bros. Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament.
During an appearance on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, prior to the 2007 World Series, Fox Sports announcer Joe Buck explained to Conan that sometimes his friends text message him during games and dare him to work words or phrases into the broadcast. Conan asked Buck to say Jub-Jub during the World Series, and if he did, Conan would donate $1,000 to a charity of Buck's choice. During the third inning of Game 1, Joe said Jub Jub. "Our own little Jub Jub Chris Myers, playing the role of weather person..."
