Attended Drama school at Yale. Attended Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland. Was cast in "Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later" 1998 as a detective, but as script changes rolled in, the role was cut. Has twice been nominated for Broadway's Tony Award for plays written by August Wilson: in 1985, as Best Actor (Featured Role - Play) for "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom," and in 1990, as Best Actor (Play) for "The Piano Lesson."
