Catherine Keener Detailed Biography -
She grew up in Hialeah, Florida asuburb of Miami, Florida. She has four siblings. She has a brother and sister who act as well. Her sister was in an episode of Felicity.
She was temporarily expelled in 11th grade then latr graduated from Monsignor Pace High School in 1976. She went to Wheaton College and studied english and history.
She won The New York Film Critics Circle and Online Film Critics Society awards for Being John Malkovich. She was nominated for a Independent Spirit Award for best Actress : Walking and Talking and for BJM she was nominated for a Golden Globe and The Screen Actors Guild.
She was nominated for an Academy Award for Being John Malkovich against Samantha Morton , Angelina Jolie, Julie Walters & Toni Collette. Morton and Keener are my favourites. I still think either of them should've won.
She was an assistent casting director to Gail Eisenstadt. Gail Eisenstadt convinced Keener to act while dying with lung cancer.
When Keener wasn't nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Living in Oblivion Keener made a comment to Tom Dicillo how she was "the invisible woman". How dare they not nominate her! She's the best and not invisible as far as I'm concerned. I know, I sound like a dork. But its true.
Tom Dicillo wrote the role in The Real Blonde just for her! What a great guy. He wouldn't make the film without her. They did have to cut some scenes from Box of Moonlight (I'd love to see these!!) but he said they were sad to see her go. I did wish she had more scenes but I won't complain since that is the movie with John Turturro and Keener.
