In February 2000, Brittany Murphy appeared [with Girl, Interrupted (1999) costar Winona Ryder] in "The Vagina Monologues," reading a chilling story of a Bosnian woman's rape camp experiences. She was set to star in a biopic of Janis Joplin, but the film was grounded over battles for the rights to Joplin's songs. She had won the role over Courtney Love and Emily Watson. Her favorite music is Jazz, especially Cole Porter. She also likes TLC, Björk, Beck and The Rolling Stones. Made the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine in 2003. Brittany was born on November 10, 1977 in Atlanta, Georgia and her parents were divorced when she was very young. She moved to New Jersey at a young age to persue acting across the river in New York. She did theatre productions off Broadway to make enough money to move to California and attempt to get into big production films. When she arrived in Hollywood she began acting in short-run television shows and got her big break in the film "Clueless". She has also been in a whole slew of films in the last few years but it is her work in Mike Judge's King of the Hill as the character Luanne Platter that has gotten her the most consecutive work and attention. Brittany is the type of women most teenage women identify with, just the average cute lovable teen.   Along with Brittany Murphy, Paul Oakenfold released the single "Faster Kill Pussycat" in 2006, with the album A Lively Mind which was released on June 6 in the United States. The song has become a club hit, and hit number one on Billboard magazine's Hot Dance Club Play chart. It also hit number seven in the UK singles chart in June 2006. She dabbled in music again with the release of her movie Happy Feet, in which she covered Queen's classic "Somebody to Love" and Earth, Wind & Fire's "Boogie Wonderland". Brittany is currently working on her debut album, which is inspired by synth-pop sound. She is working with various producers and DJs including with Paul Oakenfold, Chris Cox, Max Martin and Timbaland. The album will be released in 2009. On December 20, 2009, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to "a medical request"at the Los Angeles home Murphy and Monjack shared. She apparently collapsed in a bathroom. The firefighters made an attempt  to resuscitate Murphy on the scene. She was subsequently transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead on arrival at 10:04 after going into cardiac arrest.The official cause of death is yet to be determined, but Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter told the Associated Press: "It appears to be natural." An autopsy was performed on December 21, 2009. Full results will not be available for several weeks; authorities are looking into her medical records and toxicology reports. Brittany Murphy was buried at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills on December 24, 2009.
