Bonnie Wright (born February 17, 1991) is an English actress, perhaps best known for her role in the Harry Potter films as Ginny Weasley.
Wright was born in London to Sheila Teague and Gary Wright, jewelry designers who together run their own company, Wright & Teague. She attended The King Alfred School in London, England. She has an older brother, Lewis.
Wright enjoys dance, art, traveling, and playing musical instruments like the piano, guitar, saxophone, and recorder, as well as sports such as football, swimming, tennis, riding, ice skating, surfing and cycling. Wright is friends with fellow actress Gillian Maguire. She is also very good friends with Katie Leung and Afshan Azad who play Cho Chang and Padma Patil in the Harry Potter movies.
Wright was originally cast as Ginny Weasley for a small scene in the first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001), set at King's Cross Station. Her role became more prominent with the second movie, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), in which her character begins studies at Hogwarts while dealing with a very powerful secret diary that begins to seize her soul and consciousness. Wright's role in the third film, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), was significantly smaller, leaving her with only one line of dialogue. However, the character became a bonafide supporting character in the fourth film, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), with dialogue sprinkled across several scenes and perhaps the most screentime yet. She has since finished filming her role in the fifth Potter saga, Order of the Phoenix, due out on July 11th of 2007.
Wright has also starred in two television movies: 2002's Stranded and 2004's Agatha Christie: A Life in Pictures playing the younger version of Agatha Christie.
