Annia Hatch Biography

One of the top gymnasts of the United States. Annia Hatch is a dual citizen of the United States and Cuba. She is a native of Guantanamo, Cuba, and she competed internationally for Cuba for the better part of a decade. She was a seven-time Cuban national champion and she made history by winning Cuba's first-ever World Championship gymnastics medal - a bronze on vault at the 1996 World Championships. In February 2003, Hatch received her international release allowing her to compete for the U.S. She made her American debut at the 2003 Visa American cup capturing the Vault and Floor Exercise titles. She was named to the 2003 World Championships Team, but sustained a knee injury during training and was not able to compete. Annia was a member of the silver medal winning 2004 American women gymnastics team. She also captured the silver in the vault. Along with her husband Alan, she is the co-owner of the Stars Academy gym in West Haven, Conn.
