Andy Anderson (birth name Clifford Leon Anderson) is a drummer, notably for the band The Cure. He was born in West Ham, East London, England on January 30, 1951.
Anderson worked on Nik Turner's Sphynx album in 1978. He played with Steve Hillage on two albums, Live Herald and Open, and had a brief stint in Hawkwind in 1983, but did not record with them. His tenure in that group was cut short when he played with The Glove on their first and only album Blue Sunshine.
He later joined The Cure as their drummer in 1983, after drummer Lol Tolhurst switched to keyboard duties. Andy helped record the albums Japanese Whispers, The Top, and Concert.
Andy was fired by Robert Smith on October 17, 1984 and replaced by Boris Williams after he got into a fight with security guards after a gig at Tokyo's Nakano Sun Hall during the Japanese leg of the Top Tour. He has since recorded music for TV commercials and recorded music with other bands.
