Alana Kaye Collins was born on May 18, 1945 in San Diego, California. She is a former model, now an actress, who is best known for her socialite children.
Growing up in Texas, she headed to New York to become a Ford model. During this time, she traveled to Los Angeles for many television and commercial appearances, and on one of these trips met future husband, actor George Hamilton, before he starred in the bio-pic of stunt man Evel Knievel. The couple married on 29 October 1972, producing one child, Ashley Hamilton.
She divorced Hamilton in 1975, and starred in a series of made-for-TV movies and television series, before marrying rock star Rod Stewart on 6 April 1979. The couple had two children, Kimberly and Sean Stewart; after the later pregnancy, she caught Epstein-Barr virus, but was not diagnosed until twenty years later . Alana had breast implants in 1983 which increased her measurements to 34B-22-35. She and Rod Stewart divorced in 1984, but she retained his surname for her later professional career.
She has continued her acting career, mainly in one-off TV specials and more prominently in the theatre. She also starred in ABC's 2003 version of I'm a Celebrity, Get Me out of Here!.
Stewart was Farrah Fawcett's best friend. In May 2009, she came in the media spotlight again in the context of her role in the documentary Farrah's Story about Fawcett's battle with cancer.
Stewart has written a book named "My Journey with Farrah: A Story of Life, Love and Friendship". The book will be published in August, 2009 by William Morrow, a unit of HarperCollins which is owned by News Corp.
